Meet Ben

I was born in Hong Kong in 1985 when the city was a colony of the British Empire, which gives me a deeper understanding of the local culture and inner-workings of the ‘Pearl of the Orient".

I have been collecting coins and banknotes since the early 2000s, starting off with the British-Hong Kong specie that is still in legal circulation alongside Sino-Hong Kong currency. This expanded to more historical and silver pieces.

As my collection grew, I started to share my collecting journey on IG and people would ask me to help them acquire some for their own. I am now one of the most trusted source of collectibles in the Far East for collectors in Australia, Europe, the United States and beyond.

I am married with one daughter. My favourite items to collect are shipwreck/maritime coins and Japanese bar money from pre-1870s.

Testimonials

Ben has been a trusted source for scarce coins for a chopmark collector. Easy and pleasant to work with and miraculously quick shipping to the US West Coast from HK. I've purchased some really neat coins that I couldn't find elsewhere but the best thus far is a chopmarked 1876-P US Trade Dollar with the type 1.5/2 die variety. There are probably something like <5 of these in existence. Highly recommended!

Ben never fails to impress with the range and quality of coins that he manages to turn up for his clientele, and he is among the most prompt and consistent dealers that you could hope for when it comes to communication. Few dealers have given chopmarks the same level of respect that he does, and as a result he's been able to locate some very interesting combinations for myself and for other collectors based around the world. Highly recommended.

Before meeting Ben, it was difficult to find the quality chopmarked coins I was looking for. I mostly had to rely on finding them 3rd or 4th hand, but after meeting Ben I have a direct connection to the coin markets in Hong Kong. Not only is this more economical for a collector, Ben has been able to locate items I had previously only dreamed of finding. His efforts have turned up items that significantly elevated the quality and breadth of my collection. Ben is very hard working and he’s quite easy to work with, we’ve done many small and large deals without a single issue. I feel lucky that we live in a time that allows a connection like this across the world. Collectors in previous generations surely could have used a resource like Ben.

The HICC August 2023 Coin and watch show

What a blast! Haven’t had such a good show in such a long time. I was able to walk away with some real treasures, new relationships and refreshed old ones.

I was able to win 15 oz of free silver coins graded by PCGS thanks to the lucky draw. I will be giving away 12 of them for free on my IG. All you have to do is buy something from me to get a ticket and then I will do the draw on the 30th of September!

Some cool finds were a Japanese Internment camp money from New Zealand, some Del a Rue banknote samples with the Russian space shuttle and a chopmarked Phillipino 50 Centavos from 1881, very rare minor!

Got myself a lovely 8 Reales cob with test cuts and chopmarks too.

Looking forward to the next show and more cool finds.
